Do you have products stored in Amazon fulfillment centers for more than 270 days? If so, your inventory is at risk of being recalled and even destroyed.
At Amazon, it's essential to keep a tight control over your inventory to avoid unnecessary losses. When units have been stored for too long, Amazon can take automatic measures that could negatively impact your business. But don't worry, there are ways to avoid this and protect your investment.
What should you do?
-
Review your at-risk inventory: To get started, check which units are at risk by visiting the Amazon Fulfillment Inventory section of your seller account. Here you can quickly identify which ones need attention.
-
Adjust Automatic Shippable Inventory Configuration: Amazon offers you several options to effectively manage your at-risk inventory:
- Returns: If you prefer to physically retrieve your inventory, please select the return option and provide a valid address. Please note that this process may take up to 90 days.
- Liquidation: If you're looking to recoup some of the value of your products, consider liquidation. Amazon will try to sell your products, and anything that doesn't sell will be liquidated.
- Disable automatic removals: If you prefer to have complete control over what happens to your inventory, you can disable automatic removals at any time.
-
Take action by September 15: If you don't make adjustments by this date, Amazon may automatically liquidate or donate your long-term storage inventory.
Amazon and the circular economy
Amazon is committed to the circular economy in the European Union, meaning they will donate or recycle as much as possible. However, to maximize the value of your inventory, it is crucial that you make informed decisions tailored to the needs of your business.
